Make Your Goals SMART

Last week, we discussed the value of habits in shaping the landscape of our lives. More specifically, we explored the significance of deliberate, mindful habit building to enrich our lives. 

One key element in creating and building habits that work for us is to ensure we have clear goals that will target the changes we want to see in our lives. Bringing deliberate, intentional awareness to defining and outlining our goals can help us structure them in ways that set us up for success.
In other words, we mindfully create goals that are SMART:

SPECIFIC (simple, sensible, significant)
MEASURABLE (meaningful, motivating)
ATTAINABLE (agreed, attainable)
RELEVANT (reasonable, realistic, and resourced)
TIME-BOUND (time-based, time limited, timely, time-sensitive)

Setting SMART goals means you can clarify your ideas, focus your efforts, use your time and resources productively, and increase your chances of achieving what you want in life. We could consider that goals are part of every aspect of life: how we conduct our relationships, what ou want to achieve at work, the way we use our spare time… Everything comes down to priorities, and what we would like to accomplish in every aspect. We can, therefore, turn our mindful attention toward setting goals that are geared toward building the habits we want to impact our lives and vice versa. Without setting goals or objectives, life becomes a series of chaotic happenings we don’t control. we become the plaything of coincidence. 

SMART is an effective tool that provides the clarity, focus and motivation we need to achieve our goals. It can also improve our ability to reach them by encouraging us to define your objectives and set a completion date. SMART goals are also easy to use by anyone, anywhere, without the need for specialist tools or training.

Not only does SMART goal setting bring structure and trackability into our goals and objectives, it also creates verifiable trajectories towards a certain objective. Every goal or objective, from intermediary step to overarching objective, can be made S.M.A.R.T. and as such, brought closer to reality.

Consider the ways in which you would like to change the landscape of your life in the next six months. Then, apply your SMART principles and redefine your goal with awareness and nonjudgmental openness.

New Women’s Trauma Group Coming Soon!

We are so excited about our newest group to introduce to our community! This is an original group created with the unique needs of women living their life following trauma. An integrative supportive and didactic group for adult female survivors of trauma provides a comprehensive and holistic approach to re-empowering women to live their lives as they wish.

We explore the many impacts of trauma as well as healing approaches spanning many modalities and focusing on transformative empowerment in our daily lives. Small group size and interaction allows for comfort in sharing our experiences to heal while focusing on forward movement and changes in our lives. The group meets weekly and is time limited so that members can implement what is learned in the group into their own lives as well as receive feedback within the group while making changes in their lives.

The nature of this group requires a small size to ensure a comfortable, quality experience. Please contact me to register and ensure your spot.

Transforming Healthcare

For the last two years, we have volunteered our services, baking skills, event planning, and love to the annual Treats and Sweets Day honoring our therapeutic animals in their incredible work. This year, we not exceeded our fundraising goal and helped raise awareness across state lines, we opened up our online bakery for web-based gifts.

Each spring, in honor of National Therapy Animal Day, bakers all over the country participate in creating delicious treats and sweets to help therapy animals provide their much needed services. Etsy shop ChrysalisCrafted contributed additional animal-themed goodies for the event as well as a portion of all shop sales for the month to our event.

Therapy animals provide a unique and invaluable service to the community. They bring so many benefits to people with a variety of challenges including veterans, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, patients in recovery, students facing literacy challenges, people with intellectual or physical disabilities, and those approaching end of life.

Truly, they can help transform our lives! We were thrilled to participate this year and look forward to even greater participation next year. Without the generous gifts of our donors, we could not have made this year’s contribution a success! Thank you to all who supported our efforts and helped these incredible therapy animals continue their work.

Launching Our Meditation Series

Mindfulness meditation refers to a practice that focuses on awareness of the present experience without judgment. This involves paying attention to each event experienced in the present moment with a non-judgmental, non-reactive and accepting attitude, allowing us to fully experience our lives freed from judgment. Guided Imagery uses mental images and sensations to enhance our natural ability to perform, change, or cope in various life situations. It helps to clear our mind from daily worries and focus on a relaxing place or theme. Each helps us build a more fulfilling life.

Beginning August 1st, this series of meditations will continue for 8 weeks every Monday evening, excluding Labor Day, through September 29th. This event will be capped at 6 participants to ensure a comfortable, quality experience for all participants. Prepayment of $30 is required to ensure your spot. Please contact me to register.
