This countdown technique can help you ground yourself and bring back your physical and emotional awareness into the present moment. Practice this technique two to three times weekly to keep it accessible for when difficult situations arise.  

To begin, FOCUS your awareness on:

5 things that you can SEE

4 things that you can HEAR

3 sensations that you can FEEL

2 scents that you can SMELL

1 THOUGHT going through your head
